President Bola Tinubu has congratulated former President Goodluck Jonathan on receiving the 2025 Sunhak Peace Founders’ Award in recognition of his contributions to global peace and democracy.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commended Jonathan for his steadfast commitment to peace, harmony, and nation-building, describing his efforts as a patriotic endeavor that has earned international recognition.
The President highlighted Jonathan’s historic concession in the 2015 presidential election and his peaceful transfer of power to an opposition party, which he said strengthened Nigeria’s democratic reputation.
“This award affirms Dr. Jonathan’s bold initiatives in peacebuilding and democracy promotion across Africa and beyond,” Tinubu stated.
He also expressed gratitude to the Sunhak Peace Prize Committee for recognizing individuals dedicated to making the world a better place.
The Sunhak Peace Prize, established in 2015, honors individuals and organizations that contribute to peace and human development.
