By Kunle Sanni –

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Munirudeen Oyebamiji on his emergence as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

Oyebamiji became the party’s flagbearer following the APC primary election held on Saturday, during which party delegates unanimously affirmed his candidature.

In a statement issued on Sunday, President Tinubu praised the Osun State chapter of the APC for the unity, maturity, and spirit of reconciliation that characterised the primary election, conducted through affirmation.

The president also commended other aspirants who stepped down in favour of Oyebamiji, saying their actions demonstrated party loyalty and a shared commitment to the ideals of the APC.

Urging the party’s candidate to be magnanimous in victory, Tinubu advised Oyebamiji to embrace all party leaders and former aspirants to ensure inclusivity and cohesion as the party prepares for the 2026 governorship contest.

“The journey to reclaim Osun State for the progressive fold in the 2026 governorship election has begun,” the president said, calling on APC members and leaders in the state to remain focused, united, and resolute.

According to the statement, the APC primary election was chaired by Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo and held in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

President Tinubu expressed confidence that victory is achievable if the party maintains unity and collective resolve as the political process unfolds.
