Tinubu developing Nigeria without political bias – Information Minister

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s development agenda is anchored solely on national interest and not political considerations.

Idris made this known on Wednesday in Abuja while receiving Commissioners for Information from the 36 states of the Federation during a courtesy visit to his office. He said President Tinubu has consistently rolled out transformative projects and programmes across the country without regard to political affiliations.

“I have not seen where there are things to do and the president refused to do because the governor of that state is not in the APC. In everything that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done, the focus has always been on the ordinary Nigerians,” he said.

The minister highlighted the removal of fuel subsidy as one of the administration’s landmark reforms, explaining that the policy has unlocked unprecedented revenues for all states, enabling governors to embark on projects that directly improve the lives of citizens. According to him, no governor has called for a reversal of the policy, irrespective of party affiliation.

He recalled that before President Tinubu assumed office, 27 out of 36 states struggled to pay salaries, while 97 percent of the Federal Government’s revenue was used to service debt. He stressed that the President’s bold reforms had reversed this trend, restored fiscal stability, and freed resources for development.

Idris urged state governments to align with the President’s vision to ensure prosperity reaches every part of the country. He also disclosed that the Federal Government delegation would soon visit selected states in the South-South and North-East to inspect projects and gather citizens’ feedback as part of its engagement initiative.
