Tinubu directs Renewed Hope Ambassadors to distribute rice nationwide for Ramadan, Lent

President Bola Tinubu has directed the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to distribute rice across Nigeria to support citizens observing the Ramadan and Lenten fasting periods.
The initiative, according to the presidency’s support structure, is aimed at promoting national unity and providing relief to families during a period of deep religious significance for both Muslims and Christians.
Under the directive, the group will leverage its grassroots structures across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to ensure the food items reach households during the fasting season.
Speaking on the initiative, the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, who also serves as Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, in a statement on Sunday said the programme highlights the President’s focus on compassion and interfaith harmony.
“This initiative reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to unity and compassion. Ramadan and Lent remind us of sacrifice, charity and care for one another. Through this effort, families across Nigeria will feel the spirit of togetherness during this sacred period,” Uzodimma said.
He said the rice distribution is expected to be coordinated through state, local government and ward-level structures to ensure wide reach and accountability.
According to the statement, the latest distribution will cut across religious lines, with both Christian and Muslim communities expected to benefit, reflecting what organisers describe as the administration’s commitment to inclusiveness and social solidarity.
The programme follows a similar intervention during the 2025 Christmas celebrations, when rice was also distributed as part of efforts to support Nigerians during major religious festivities.
