Tinubu focused on reforms, unshaken by 2027 political distractions – FG

The federal government has reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to his reform agenda, dismissing political speculations surrounding the 2027 general elections as mere distractions.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, emphasized that the President remains focused on implementing transformative policies under the Renewed Hope agenda rather than engaging in political wrangling or responding to emerging coalitions.
“While we recognize the rights of Nigerians to free speech and association, the Tinubu administration will not be sidetracked by political distractions,” the statement read.
Idris noted that despite growing media attention on political realignments ahead of 2027, the administration’s top priorities remain economic reform, national security, and institutional strengthening.
“President Tinubu was elected on a bold and transformative mandate,” the Minister stated. “In just two years, the country has seen significant progress—crude oil theft is down, investor confidence is rebounding, inflation is easing, and the Naira is stabilizing.”
He also outlined several initiatives implemented under the administration, including a student loan scheme, improved access to consumer credit, the rollout of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicle conversions, and major infrastructure upgrades.
The Minister further highlighted the recent signing of four tax reform bills set to take effect in 2026, describing them as one of the most ambitious fiscal overhauls in Nigeria’s history.
Idris also referenced the launch of the Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanisation Programme, calling it the largest mechanisation drive ever undertaken in the country, and dismissed opposition activities as attempts to derail ongoing reforms.
