Tinubu hails ex-Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Irabor, at 60
By Kunle Sanni –
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated former Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Eluonye Irabor (rtd), on his 60th birthday, describing him as a courageous patriot and one of Nigeria’s most remarkable soldiers.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commended the retired general for his years of meritorious service to the nation and his leadership in the fight against insurgency.
General Irabor, who hails from Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, served as Chief of Defence Staff during the height of the Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East.
The President praised Irabor’s commitment and bravery in defending the nation, describing him as “a true war commander and defender.”
“He was courageous. General Irabor remains one of the most remarkable soldiers this country has ever produced,” President Tinubu stated.
Tinubu also lauded the retired general for authoring a book on the Boko Haram insurgency, which was launched last Friday in Abuja. He noted that the publication would deepen understanding of the insurgency and help Nigeria address similar security challenges in the future.
At the launch, General Irabor clarified that the book was intended for “soul-searching” rather than to indict anyone.
President Tinubu wished him many more years of good health and continued service to the nation.
