Tinubu commends Sanwo-Olu over projects, says free traffic boosts productivity

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday praised several projects constructed by the Lagos State government, describing them as people-focused initiatives that demonstrate how the city is successfully managing the challenges of rapid urbanisation.
The President made the remarks during the commissioning of the newly completed Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge. He was represented at the event by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
“In a busy city like Lagos, vehicular movement is not just about commuting; it is directly tied to economic well-being,” President Tinubu said. “When traffic flows, productivity improves. When time is saved, businesses grow. When access is easier, living standards improve.”
He added that these projects demonstrate Lagos’ innovative approach to tackling mobility challenges and position the state as a model for other progressive regions in Nigeria.
President Tinubu also expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government for naming the new administrative complex after him.
“I accept the honour of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Administrative Complex (BATAC) with humility,” he said. “The building represents the future of transparent and efficient land administration. Data and technology are no longer optional tools but essential instruments for modern governance.”
The president noted that the projects align with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to build a digitally enabled and economically vibrant Nigeria. “By the quality of these projects, Governor Sanwo-Olu has set another standard in project delivery. These achievements go beyond the ability of one man. They reflect a system that is working; a public service that continues to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people,” he said.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the projects as complementary investments designed to tackle key governance challenges. “The Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge will significantly ease congestion along the Ikeja-Maryland-Ojota corridor while improving the overall commuting experience,” he said.
