Tinubu hails leadership qualities of Shettima, governors at NEC conference

President Bola Tinubu on Monday praised Vice President Kashim Shettima for his leadership and partnership in advancing national development, describing him as a dependable ally on Nigeria’s path to progress.

The president spoke at the opening of the two-day National Economic Council (NEC) conference at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, where he commended the council’s work under Shettima’s chairmanship.

Tinubu affirmed that the NEC has remained a critical platform for collective decision-making and cooperation between the Federal Government and subnational authorities, noting that its deliberations have strengthened coordinated governance across the country.

“Vice President Shettima is a very good partner for a journey of progress,” the president said, thanking him for steering the council through what he described as intellectually robust discussions over the past three years.

He also applauded state governors for their contributions to national stability, singling out the governors of Borno and Katsina states for their efforts in tackling security challenges.

“The actions of these governors have helped protect Nigeria’s shared values and institutions,” Tinubu said. “I commend many of you, particularly the governors of Borno and Katsina, and others who have done so much to defend our freedom, liberty, and our commonwealth.”

The NEC meeting brought together state governors, deputy governors, and key federal officials to deliberate on economic and security issues affecting the nation.
