Tinubu hails new Kano deputy governor Murtala Garo, calls for unity, progress

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Murtala Sule Garo following his swearing-in as Deputy Governor of Kano State, calling for unity and renewed cooperation among political stakeholders in the state.
Garo was sworn in on Tuesday by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf after being nominated to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam.
The development followed political realignments in Kano State, including Governor Yusuf’s defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tinubu, in a statement on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, commended the governor’s decision as a step toward strengthening political cohesion in the state.
The new deputy governor, Murtala Sule Garo, is a seasoned politician who previously served as Chairman of Kabo Local Government and later as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs under former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje. He also served as the APC deputy governorship candidate in the 2023 elections.
President Tinubu urged all stakeholders in Kano to support the state leadership, calling for cooperation to advance peace, stability, and development. He further encouraged the new deputy governor to work closely with Governor Yusuf in delivering effective governance for the people of Kano State.
Tinubu wished Garo success in his new role and reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to supporting progress across all states.
