By Kunle Sanni –

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima and other distinguished Nigerians on their conferment as Fellows of the Nigerian Economic Society (NES).

The conferment, which took place on Monday, September 8, recognised their contributions to economic policy, research, and national development.

Tinubu described the recognition of Shettima as a testament to his “visionary leadership” and dedication to the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in areas of inclusive growth, job creation, and sustainable development.

He also praised Dr. Iyabo Masha, a renowned economist and Director of the Intergovernmental Group of Twenty-Four on International Monetary Affairs and Development (G-24). Masha previously served on Nigeria’s eight-member Presidential Economic Advisory Council (2019–2022), which advised former President Muhammadu Buhari on economic policy.

The President said the awards were well deserved and urged the new Fellows to continue using their expertise to support Nigeria’s economic recovery and global competitiveness.
