Tinubu inaugurates newly constituted NNPCL board

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday officially inaugurated the newly appointed board and management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), marking a formal step in strengthening the leadership of the nation’s energy sector.

The brief swearing-in ceremony took place at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja, nearly seven weeks after the board’s initial appointment on April 2, 2025.

Ahmadu Kida was sworn in as the Non-Executive Chairman of the board, while Bashir Ojulari took the oath as the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL. The President administered the oaths in the presence of senior government officials and stakeholders.

Following the ceremony, President Tinubu proceeded to the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Summit, held at the State House Banquet Hall.

The newly constituted 11-member board reflects representation from all six geopolitical zones. Members include Adedapo Segun and Bello Rabiu (North-West), Yusuf Usman (North-East), and Babs Omotowa, former Managing Director of Nigeria LNG (North-Central). Others are Austin Avuru (South-South), David Ige (South-West), and Henry Obih (South-East).

Also on the board are Lydia Jafiya, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance, representing the ministry, and Aminu Ahmed from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

Key cabinet members present at the event included the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri.
