Tinubu mourns victims of Borno terror attacks, vows stronger military action

President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolences over the recent terrorist attacks in Maiduguri, Borno State, describing the incidents as tragic and reassuring Nigerians that his administration will intensify efforts to defeat insurgency.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the President sympathised with families of those who lost their lives and those injured during the attacks, while affirming the Federal Government’s solidarity with the people of Borno State.
Tinubu described the attacks as “desperate and frantic attempts” by terrorist groups who, according to him, are under sustained pressure from Nigerian armed forces and security agencies across various operations.
The President praised the courage of Nigerian troops for successfully repelling coordinated assaults on military formations in the state, noting that the response demonstrated the resilience and readiness of the country’s security forces.
He also revealed that he recently approved additional military equipment and operational support following a high-level security meeting with intelligence and security chiefs. According to him, the deployment of these resources is already underway to strengthen ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
As part of immediate response measures, Tinubu directed security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri to personally oversee operations, while also instructing emergency response agencies to ensure proper medical care for the injured victims.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to national security, the President declared that terrorists would find no safe haven anywhere in Nigeria.
“We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them. Nigeria will not succumb to fear,” the statement said.
The President reiterated the government’s determination to continue supporting the military and civilian joint task forces working to restore peace and stability in the North-East region.
