Tinubu mourns victims of Ibaji boat mishap in Kogi

President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in a boat accident that occurred in Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State on Tuesday.

According to reports, the victims were traders traveling from Ibaji to Ilushi Market in Edo State when the mishap occurred.

In a condolence message, the President described the incident as “shocking and unfortunate,” noting that the victims were simply trying to earn a decent living.

Tinubu commended the first responders who rushed to the scene and urged federal, state, and local emergency services to intensify efforts to assist survivors and affected families.

He also called on operators of water transportation to prioritize safety over financial gains to prevent such tragedies in the future.

The President prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
