President Bola Tinubu has expressed sadness over the death of Chief Audu Ogbeh, former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one-time Minister of Agriculture, who died on Saturday at the age of 78.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President condoled with the government and people of Benue State, as well as the family, friends, and associates of the late elder statesman.
Chief Ogbeh, who served in several administrations, was Minister of Communications in the Second Republic and later Minister of Agriculture under President Muhammadu Buhari. He began his political career in the 1970s as a legislator and was a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
President Tinubu praised Ogbeh’s intellect and policy acumen, describing him as a patriot who consistently offered fact-based and practical solutions to Nigeria’s challenges.
“Chief Audu Ogbeh was a patriot whose wisdom, dedication, and pursuit of progress left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s political landscape. He was always ready with facts and figures to support his propositions. The nation will sorely miss his insightful perspectives and wealth of experience,” Tinubu said.
The President prayed for the repose of Ogbeh’s soul and asked God to comfort his family.
