Tinubu reaffirms commitment to security, development — Information Minister

By Kunle Sanni –

President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s determination to safeguard the lives and property of Nigerians as part of ongoing efforts to accelerate national development.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this on Saturday during an interactive session with members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Niger South Senatorial District (Zone A) held in Bida. The event also marked the inauguration of the APC Campaign Council for the November 1 local government elections in the state.

Idris, who serves as chairman of the APC Campaign Council for the polls, said the Tinubu administration remains steadfast in its mission to restore peace and stability in Niger State and across Nigeria.

He emphasized that President Tinubu has directed security agencies to take decisive action to ensure lasting peace nationwide, adding that the protection of citizens’ lives and property remains a top priority of the federal government.

Urging Nigerians to keep faith with the government’s reform agenda, the minister noted that the economy is showing signs of gradual improvement, with more positive outcomes expected soon.

“We should believe in the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The economy is getting better, and this is just the beginning of many better things to come,” Idris said.

In support of the APC’s campaign efforts, Idris announced a personal donation of ₦100 million. Each of the eight local government areas—Bida, Agaie, Lapai, Katcha, Edati, Mokwa, Lavun, and Gbako—received ₦10 million, while ₦20 million was set aside for youths, women, and other party members who attended the event.

The minister, however, said the gathering would not feature celebratory activities in solidarity with victims of recent bandit attacks in the Niger North Senatorial Zone, offering prayers for their families.
