Tinubu reconvenes FEC meeting 44 days after first session

President Bola Tinubu will tomorrow Monday, October 16, 2023 hold the second Federal Executive Council meeting of his administration 44 days after the first session held.
The first FEC meeting held on August 28, during which the President told the cabinet members of the priorities of his administration and stressed that Nigerians will not accept any excuse for poor performance.
The Federal Executive Council is a constitutional body where government policies debated and approved by Ministers with the President and Vice President as Chairman and Vice chairman respectively.
WesternPost gathered that the Cabinet Office sent memos and circular to all Ministers on Friday, intimating them of the FEC meeting tomorrow where some matters around the economy, security and other matters of national importance will be discussed.
Our correspondent learnt that issues of new national minimum wage, palliatives as a result of fuel subsidy removal and composition of the tripartite committee to negotiate new national minimum wage with Labour Unions will likely come up.
The Federal Government averted industrial action that would have further crippled the economy about two weeks ago when it entered into agreement with the Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress to pay N35,000 salary award to Federal workers to cushion the effect of rising cost of living. The agreement with Labour also included some milestones that must be met by the government within 30 days.
The NLC President, Joe Ajaero in news reports over the weekend said the Labour unions will not give any notice again to the FG before embarking on strike action if the government refused to implement all the agreements entered into with the trade unions.
