President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja after participating in the G20 Summit held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
He arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at exactly 10:00 p.m. on Saturday and was received by top political officials at the airport’s presidential wing.
The summit marked a significant milestone in Nigeria’s global engagement, as President Tinubu reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to addressing critical global challenges, including hunger, poverty, and climate resilience.
He positioned Nigeria as a key stakeholder in tackling pressing issues facing the Global South, emphasizing the country’s readiness to establish transformative international partnerships.
A major achievement of the summit was the signing of a $2.5 billion Letter of Intent between Nigeria and JBS S.A., one of the world’s leading meat processing companies. This agreement is set to boost Nigeria’s agricultural and industrial sectors by creating jobs, stimulating economic growth, and enhancing food security.
President Tinubu’s economic reforms also received international commendation during his bilateral meeting with Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Georgieva lauded the reforms for their positive impact on Nigeria’s fiscal stability and pledged continued technical and financial support to sustain the progress.
