President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the names of veteran journalist Louis Odion and grassroots politician Ummasalma Isiyaku Rabiu to the Senate for confirmation as Executive Commissioners of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).
According to a statement issued in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Odion has been nominated as Executive Commissioner (Operations), while Rabiu is to serve as Executive Commissioner (Corporate Services). The nominations are subject to Senate approval in line with the FCCPC Act, 2018.
Odion, from Edo State, is a former Senior Technical Assistant on Media to ex–Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and also served as Edo State Commissioner for Information. He holds Master’s degrees in Modern War Studies from the University of Buckingham in the United Kingdom and in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos.
Rabiu, 35, from Kano State, is the founder of the Usir Foundation, a non-profit focused on education, skills training, and humanitarian initiatives. A Business Administration graduate, she has built a reputation for championing youth engagement, women’s political participation, and inclusive governance.
If confirmed, both nominees will join the FCCPC leadership tasked with strengthening consumer protection and ensuring fair competition in Nigeria’s marketplace.
