Senator Representing Sokoto South, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has pointed out that President Bola Tunubu has the task to fix the ailing economy of Nigeria, as he sought for the top job.
Speaking in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital after visiting former president, Olusegun Obasanjo on the occasion of his 87th birthday, the former Sokoto state governor urged Nigerians not to loose hope, as he assured the country would be great again.
Appealing to Tinubu to listen to the cries of Nigerians amidst the harsh socio-economic realities citizens have continued to grapple with, Tambuwal further advised ordinary Nigerian citizens and politicians alike, to persevere in prayers and do the right thing.
He said, “My clarion call is to Mr. President as the situation is getting bad by the day. Mr. President should listen to the cries of Nigerians, the country is going through hard times, things have never been this bad.
“But, he sought for this job and he got it, so, he needs to rally and make sure that things are put in better shape for the progress of Nigeria.”
Speaking on his contributions so far on the floor of the National Assembly, particularly, as it affects his constituency, the Senator asserted that he would continue to give robust representation to his people.
He stated that some strategic road projects linking Zamfara and Kebbi states from his constituency have been included in year 2024 budget, while disclosing that bills ensuring Nigerians become beneficiaries of affordable housing are in the pipeline.
Eulogizing former President Obasanjo, the former governor revealed that he had always been part of the family and felicitating with him on his birthday was an annual show of support.
“I came all the way to Abeokuta to come as I always do every year on his birthday. I pray with Baba for more good health, many more years of service to Nigeria and to humanity.
“He has been an enigma, he has been a great leader and a source of inspiration and indeed Baba has been a great leader not only in Nigeria, West Africa and Africa but, globally too. He is an international statesman, and we pray God keep him in good health” he said.
