Tinubu Support Group slams Babachir over 2027 election comments

The Renewed Hope Consolidation Mandate 2027, a political support group for President Bola Tinubu, has criticized former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, over his recent comments suggesting that the North is planning to force Tinubu to step down before the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement issued by the group’s Director of Media and Publicity, Femi Odere, on Monday, Lawal was accused of making baseless and divisive claims, which they described as a product of his imagination.
“It beggars belief that Mr. Lawal would utter such inanity—that any geopolitical entity in Nigeria has the power to force a duly elected president in his first term to step down, unless he thinks we’re still in the military era,” the statement read.

The group labeled Lawal a “political clown,” arguing that his comments were driven by bitterness and desperation for relevance. They also dismissed his claim as an indirect admission that Tinubu is well-positioned to win re-election in 2027.
“Lawal’s statement is a covert but bitter admission that President Tinubu will win the 2027 election hands down because his accomplishments will be undeniable by then.”
The statement further argued that Tinubu’s political strength remains intact, adding that his re-election bid is not in doubt.
“It is a pity that despite his longevity in politics, Mr. Lawal still does not have the presence of mind to correctly read the tea leaves. President Tinubu will secure a second term with an even bigger win than in 2023.”
The Renewed Hope Consolidation Mandate 2027 urged Lawal to tread the path of reason, cautioning against statements that could mislead the public or create unnecessary tension in the country’s political landscape.
