Tinubu suspends indefinitely MD, EDs Rural Electrification Agency, appoints interim management

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended indefinitely from office the Managing Director/CEO of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA),  Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad,  and the three Executive Directors (EDs) of the Agency.

The suspended EDs are Olaniyi Alaba Netufo, Executive Director, Corporate Services; Barka Sajou Executive Director, Technical Services, and Sa’adatu Balgore, Executive Director, Rural Electrification Fund (REF).

Presidential spokesman,  Ajuri Ngelale, announced on Thursday night, stating that the decision was made given fresh information discovered through a thorough examination of REA’s financial operations. 

Following their suspension, President Tinubu has approved with immediate effect the appointment of some capable Nigerians to serve in the interim management team of the Agency, the Presidential Spokesman added. They are, Abba Abubakar Aliyu as Managing Director/CEO, Ayoade Gboyega to serve as Executive Director, Corporate Services and Umar Abdullahi Umar as Executive Director, Technical Services.

Others are Doris Uboh, Executive Director, Rural Electrification Fund (REF) and Olufemi Akinyelure, Head of the Project Management Unit, Nigeria Electrification Project.
