Tinubu tasks Oyedele to drive economic stability, growth

President Bola Tinubu has charged the newly sworn-in Minister of State for Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, to strengthen Nigeria’s economy, maintain financial stability, and accelerate economic growth.
Speaking on Monday after administering the oath of office at the State House in Abuja, the President said Oyedele’s appointment was a deliberate decision based on his expertise and proven commitment to fiscal reforms.
Tinubu expressed confidence in the new minister, describing him as a seasoned professional capable of supporting the government’s ongoing economic transformation agenda.
According to the President, managing fiscal policy and ensuring financial discipline remain crucial as the administration works to sustain economic reforms and build a stronger financial foundation for the country.
He also praised Oyedele’s role in the reform of Nigeria’s tax system, noting that the previous framework had become outdated and required significant restructuring to align with modern economic realities.
Describing the minister as focused and service-driven, Tinubu said his track record demonstrated the competence needed to handle the responsibilities of the office.
The President further thanked Oyedele for accepting the responsibility to serve the country, describing his inauguration as another important step in the administration’s broader economic reform programme.
Tinubu also acknowledged the support of Oyedele’s family, especially his wife, commending their understanding of the demands of public service and the sacrifices required.
