President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to support the nation’s armed forces, emphasizing their sacrifices in safeguarding the country. He urged citizens to honor their dedication and bravery.

In his 2024 Christmas message, signed on Tuesday, the President also expressed profound sorrow over the recent tragic stampedes in Ibadan, Okija, and Abuja, which claimed several innocent lives.

“We must honor our brave troops who risk their lives to safeguard our nation. They deserve our prayers and unwavering support,” Tinubu stated.

Reflecting on the stampedes, which occurred during poorly organized palliative distributions, the President described the events as “heartbreaking” and called for collective efforts to prevent such tragedies in the future. He extended prayers to the affected families and communities.

Tinubu further emphasized the significance of unity, love, and compassion during the festive season, urging Nigerians to support the less fortunate and remain optimistic about the country’s progress.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to public welfare, he outlined measures aimed at easing holiday travels, including free train services and subsidized transportation on major routes across the country.

The President concluded his message by wishing all Nigerians a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, while reassuring them of the government’s resolve to ensure peace, security, and sustainable development.
