The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing him as a blessing to Nigerian sports and the nation at large, as he marks his 73rd birthday.
Dikko acknowledged that President Tinubu assumed office at a challenging time in Nigeria’s history but has successfully renewed hope through his policies and governance agenda.
“Not everyone can achieve the kind of exceptional results that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR has delivered in such a short time. He has made bold decisions that, although initially tough, are now steering the country towards economic stability and a promising future. His experience has been instrumental in implementing these reforms,” he said.
The NSC chairman also praised Tinubu’s decisive actions in the sports sector, particularly his decision to reestablish the National Sports Commission with full enabling powers while scrapping the previous ministry structure.
“Ultimately, Mr. President was convinced that this was the right path to reposition and elevate Nigerian sports. Today, we can already see the positive impact of that decision.
“He has given us the mandate to harness sports’ potential and develop a thriving sports economy. He has urged us to shift focus from merely participating in international competitions to prioritizing domestic sports development, which fosters production and economic value addition.
“Beyond the mandate, he has provided unwavering support, encouragement, and the necessary enabling environment. His leadership is truly a blessing to Nigerian sports and the country as a whole,” Dikko stated.
He further emphasized that the NSC is leveraging this strong presidential backing to transform the sports sector and unlock new opportunities for growth and development.
