Tinubu’s SDG adviser commends Odunmbaku for transforming healthcare in Ojodu LCDA

The Senior Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, has commended the Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. David Odunmbaku, and Eko Club Atlanta for the free medical outreach program for residents.

Orelope-Adefulire gave the commendation during a visit to the outreach on Tuesday, which took place at the Nigeria Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Ogba, Ikeja.

Tagged the “Ojodu Medical Outreach Program,” the initiative is part of the council chairman’s broader H.E.Y.S. Reloaded four-point agenda aimed at addressing health challenges within the council. Residents received free health services including malaria treatment, dental checks, cancer screening, tuberculosis testing, health education, vision screening, free eyeglasses, and medications.

Speaking at the event, Odunmbaku said the outreach reflects his commitment to improving the lives of residents and uplifting communities. He emphasized that under his H.E.Y.S. Agenda Reloaded—focusing on Health, Education, Youth and Women Empowerment, and Social Infrastructure—the council has achieved significant progress in the health sector, including the modernization of three Primary Health Centres.

“From October 2023 to date, over 700 residents have benefited from free mini-surgeries, and more than 5,000 have accessed free medical missions and health outreaches across our communities,” Odunmbaku said.

“We have also enrolled widows, the elderly, and persons living with disabilities into health insurance schemes, ensuring vulnerable members of our society receive the medical attention they need without financial hardship. These initiatives demonstrate our commitment to inclusive healthcare.”

Odunmbaku thanked the leadership and members of Eko Club Atlanta, USA, for bringing the initiative to Ojodu LCDA for the second time. He noted that 65 health professionals from the diaspora—including eight medical doctors, seven nurses, and five pharmacists—are participating in the outreach. He urged residents to take advantage of the program and seek treatment for their ailments.

The President of Eko Club Atlanta, Deji Ajiboye, commended Odunmbaku for his dedication to his constituents, while the Chairperson of the Eko Club Atlanta Medical Mission, Wunmi Isiotan, also praised the council chairman for the initiative.
