Tinubu’s SSA Tunde Rahman hails Lekan Alabi at 75, graces book launch

Senior Special Adviser on Media and Special Duties to President Bola Tinubu, Mr. Tunde Rahman, has lauded the professionalism and remarkable career of veteran journalist and Ibadan High Chief, Oloye Lekan Alabi.
Speaking at the launch of Alabi’s book Media, Governance and Culture at RATAAWU Multipurpose Hall, BCOS, Ile Akede Bashorun, on Wednesday in Ibadan, Rahman described him as a “media guru” with the rare distinction of having served as spokesperson to four different governors. He noted that this achievement reflects Alabi’s competence, integrity, and outstanding work ethic.
Rahman also pledged to support the book project, which was printed in the United States, through personal contributions, further affirming his admiration for Alabi’s lifelong dedication to media excellence.

The event doubled as a celebration of Alabi’s 75th birthday and his promotion from Maye Olubadan to Abese Olubadan, drawing dignitaries from media, academia, and traditional institutions.
In his remarks, Oloye Lekan Alabi expressed gratitude to God and appreciation to guests for their support. He revealed that the book idea originated from Rasaq Akinyemi and emphasized the importance of preserving historical records. Alabi dedicated the work to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, noting that the launch date followed the blessing of Oba Rashidi Ladoja.
Gbenga Adefaye, Provost of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos, praised the book, describing Alabi as “an asset to the media and society,” and noted that it would serve as a valuable resource for students, academics, and practitioners alike.
Notable attendees included Dr. Sulaiman Olanrewaju, Chief Press Secretary to the Oyo State Governor; Eze James Nduka Oramadike, Eze Ndigbo of Ibadan and Yorubaland; Ademola Balogun, Chairman of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS); and Chief Taofeek Gboyega Adegoke, an Ibadan chieftain and Chairman of Solution FM.
