Tipper kills 9-year-old girl in Ondo community

Tension engulfed Akungba-Akoko over the weekend after a tipper truck reportedly killed a nine-year-old girl in a fatal accident.

According to reliable sources, the incident occurred at Supare Junction along Supare Road, leaving residents in shock and grief.

Eyewitnesses said the child was struck by the truck which sparked outrage within the community.

It was learnt that the victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment but was later confirmed dead by medical personnel.

Reacting to the incident, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Jimoh Abayomi, confirmed the incident on Sunday, disclosing that the victim, identified as Fatima Ibrahim, was hit by an unregistered Mercedes-Benz tipper truck.

According to him, the driver has been arrested, while the vehicle involved has been taken for inspection as part of ongoing investigation.

The police also expressed condolences to the bereaved family and urged motorists to obey traffic rules to prevent similar tragedies.
