To retain power, we must rotate to South, Akeredolu tells APC

Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu says for the All Progressives Congress to retain power, it must rotate it to the South.

The call comes as the APC prepares for the presidential primaries next week.

Akeredolu said this in a post on his Facebook page on Thursday.

“APC must work to retain power. We must rotate power to retain power!!! Rotate to south. Shikena,” Akeredolu wrote on Facebook.

The Ondo State governor, who doubles as the Chairman of the South West Governors’ Forum has been a continuous agitator for the return of power to the South after eight years of President Buhari in office.

WesternPost had exclusively reported that Akeredolu rejected moves by APC governors from the North to raise one of them as their choice at their meeting Tuesday evening.

According to our source, the northern governors proposed one of them after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) picked former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its flag bearer.

The northern governors were said to have reasoned that no southern aspirant among the contenders can match Atiku because of the voting strength of the North.

“The Southern APC Governors challenged their colleagues to think about the unity and stability of the country. Governor Akeredolu was vehement in his opposition and counter argument against the move by his northern counterparts to foist a presidential candidate from the North on the party,” our source said.
