Tolu Arokodare beats transfer deadline, seals Wolves move

Tolu Arokodare is already feeling at home at new club Wolverhampton Wanderers after completing his move from Genk on Monday, just before the transfer deadline.

According to the Nigeria international striker, the club’s history and its track record of developing players convinced him that Wolves are the right place to progress his career.

The Super Eagles star joined Wolves on deadline day, fresh from winning the Golden Boot in the Belgian Pro League last season with Genk.

The attacker revealed he had studied how Jorgen Strand Larsen thrived at Molineux last season and is eager to make his own impact when the Premier League resumes after the international break.

The 24-year-old signed a four-year contract with Wolves, with an option for an additional year.

His move to Molineux follows an impressive season in Belgium, where he netted 21 goals in the league and 23 in all competitions.

Standing at 6ft 6in, Arokodare began his career in Nigeria before moving to Europe with Latvian side Valmiera in 2019. There, he quickly made his mark with 22 goals in 34 matches as a teenager.

He started the new season with five appearances for Genk, scoring against Standard Liège earlier this month, but now makes the step up to the Premier League with Wolves.
