Top PDP chieftain quits party in Ekiti

By Boye Oyeyemi –

A prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Alhaji Lateef Ajijola, has resigned his membership of the party.

Ajijola, who was recently appointed by President Bola Tinubu as one of the executive directors in the newly established Southwest Development Commission, announced his decision in a letter to the PDP Chairman, Ward Nine, Ado-Ekiti.

He explained that the move followed wide consultations with his political associates, family members, and friends.

In the letter, Ajijola expressed gratitude to party members for their support during his years in the PDP, stressing that he valued the relationship built within the fold.

WESTERN POST reports that Ajilola’s resignation is coming at a time when the party in Ekiti is grappling with internal wrangling and a string of defections ahead of future elections.
