Toyin Abraham calls for end to online backlash against Abike Shugaa
Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has called on her supporters, popularly known as “Toyin Titans,” to stop harassing her former protégé, Pelumi Olawuni, also known as Abike Shugaa, amid their ongoing public dispute.
In a video shared on her Snapchat page on Monday, the actress urged her followers to forgive and move past the controversy, emphasising the need for restraint despite emotional reactions.
She said, “Please, to everybody, it’s okay. Please forgive her… There is no one that cannot get angry. Even Jesus was angry… let everything slide. This is a new week. Toyin Titans, no distractions, please.”
Abraham also hinted at upcoming professional commitments, stating that she has several projects lined up, including new YouTube movie releases and major plans scheduled for later in the year.
Reflecting on past experiences, she recalled facing intense online criticism during a previous period when she publicly supported President Bola Tinubu, describing the backlash as overwhelming.
The actress said the recent situation involving Abike Shugaa, along with feedback from the public, has influenced her perspective on personal boundaries and relationships.
She added that both parties have learnt from the experience and appealed for a shift in focus away from the controversy.
Meanwhile, Abike Shugaa disclosed that she recently received a privacy notification from YouTube over a video related to the dispute, with the platform flagging certain portions for review but issuing no penalties.
