Traditional council debunks rumour on Oro festival in Osun

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The Ede Traditional Council has debunked a rumour making the rounds on social media about a planned Oro festival in Osun State, insisting that no such event is scheduled to take place in the town on Thursday.
In a statement issued by the Director of Media and Public Communication at Aafin Timi Agbale, Ede, Dapo Akinyele, the council described the information as baseless and entirely false.
The council dismissed the alleged Oro rites as a fabrication with no connection to reality.
“It has come to the notice of the Ede Traditional Council that some faceless individuals are spreading unfounded and baseless information on social media concerning an Oro festival slated for 5:00 p.m. today, Thursday, 3rd July, 2025,” the statement read in part.
It stressed that there are no Oro festival plans or activities sanctioned by the council.
The council urged residents of Ede to ignore the rumour and go about their normal activities without fear or disruption.
