Tragedy as car somersaults into canal near Third Mainland Bridge
A motorist reportedly died on Friday morning after his Toyota Corolla plunged into a canal around Adeniji, Lagos Island, near the Third Mainland Bridge.
The lone accident occurred when the vehicle somersaulted into a V-shaped canal at Adeniji, inward Ilubirin, shortly before the bridge.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident in a post on X, stating that one casualty was recorded.
A video shared by the agency showed emergency responders and passersby gathered around the overturned vehicle.
LASTMA said a tow truck had been contacted to evacuate the vehicle.
In a separate incident on Friday morning, a 40-foot container fell off a Mack flat-body truck at Daleko, Mushin, leaving one lane obstructed.
According to LASTMA, the container fell at Olanibi Street, by Ladipo, Daleko. No casualty was recorded in the incident.
