Tribunal: Tinubu, Shettima present LP register to show Obi isn’t party member

President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima have submitted a copy of the Labour Party (LP) membership register for Anambra State, aiming to substantiate their claim that Peter Obi is not a registered member of the party.
In response to a petition filed by Obi and the LP, Tinubu and Shettima argued that Obi, who contested the presidential election on the LP platform, was ineligible as he was not a party member at the time.
During the proceedings at the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), their legal representative, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), presented the LP membership register and a letter dated April 25, 2022, from the LP to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), forwarding the said register.
While Livy Uzoukwu (SAN), the lawyer representing the petitioners, raised objections to the admission of the documents, the court overruled the objections and admitted them as Exhibits RA17 and RA18.
