Troops of Operation UDO KA killed six fighters of the Indigenous People of Biafra and its affiliate, Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN) during a raid on their camp in Igboro Forest in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State on Saturday.

A statement posted on the X handle of the Defence Headquarters said the latest operation was to “apprehend the perpetrators of the attack on own troops at Aba last week as well as to recover arms and ammunition from the Indigenous People of Biafra and its affiliate Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN) terrorist group.”

The statement added that soldiers came across improvised explosive devices along the axis of advance of the intelligence-led operation and a piece caused minor injuries to one soldier.

According to the Army, six members of the criminal terrorist gang were neutralised as a result of the superior firepower’s adequate subduement of the terrorists’ weak battle.

The remaining members of the terrorist group were said to have managed to flee into nearby bushes, some of them suffering from minor gunshot wounds, as evidenced by the bloodstains found along their escape routes.

Three locally manufactured RPG launchers and two locally manufactured artillery guns equipped with bombs and tripods were found among their belongings.

“Other items recovered include Dane guns, Biafran flags as well as Toyota Tundra and Hilux vehicles that were burnt in situ.

“Also, all of their camps with different inscriptions were destroyed.

“The Joint Task Force Operation UDO KA is calling on the good people of Abia to continue to cooperate with security agencies by giving credible and timely information that will help to annihilate the criminals in the State and the whole of South East Nigeria.

“Any information should be passed to OPUK by dialling *193 and press Option 2* on your phone,” the Army statement said.
