A tragic accident occurred on Saturday evening in Obaagun, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State, when a truck hit and killed a young boy who was on an errand to purchase fuel.
It was gathered that the truck, which was traveling from Ikirun to a quarry in Obaagun, struck the boy at Marvelous Junction, resulting in his instant death.
The incident sparked outrage among youths in the area, who attempted to lynch the driver involved in the accident. However, the timely intervention of officers from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) prevented this.
Confirming the incident, the Osun NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Kehinde Adeleke, stated that the deceased was sent by his father to purchase fuel.
According to her, the driver has since been handed over to the Nigeria Police, Ifelodun Division, for further investigation.
Adeleke also disclosed that the deceased boy has been buried and that normalcy has returned to the area.
