Tuggar embarks on diplomatic shuttle to United Kingdom

Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, His Excellency Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has embarked on a high-level working visit to the United Kingdom.

The trip comes as part of an ongoing strategy to deepen bilateral ties and foster strategic cooperation across critical sectors such as trade, investment, technology, media, and academia.

During his visit, Ambassador Tuggar is slated to engage in several key events and meetings that highlight Nigeria’s commitment to driving economic growth, innovation, and sustainable development.

At Chatham House, he will deliver a speech and participate in discussions centered on Nigeria’s evolving foreign policy and global aspirations. This engagement is expected to shed light on the nation’s strategy for enhancing its international profile.

Further highlighting the agenda, the Minister will take part in a high-level roundtable at the House of Commons. The discussion will address Nigeria’s efforts to diversify its economy, improve its investment climate, and accelerate its digital transformation.

In addition, Tuggar will meet with influential media stakeholders at BBC House in London to articulate Nigeria’s foreign policy priorities and global positioning.

The visit also includes significant financial and economic engagements. Ambassador Tuggar is scheduled to hold talks with executives from JP Morgan and British International Investment (BII).

These meetings aim to explore avenues for attracting capital flows, promoting investment opportunities, and strengthening Nigeria’s financial sector—a key pillar in the nation’s broader economic strategy.

In a series of bilateral meetings with senior officials from the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and other prominent institutions, discussions will focus on enhancing security and intelligence-sharing to counter extremism and instability in West Africa. The conversations will also target expanding business opportunities, supporting economic growth, and boosting job creation.

Moreover, collaborations in education, research, and technology between Nigerian and UK academic institutions are set to take center stage, with planned engagements at the African Centre and the University of Cambridge.
