Fans of Turkish club Bursaspor have rewarded Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho for his impressive goal-scoring form by delivering 16 watermelons to the club’s training facilities.

The gesture followed a revelation by Bursaspor captain Ertuğrul Ersoy that Iheanacho is so fond of the fruit that he eats watermelon all year round.

According to Turkish newspaper Fanatik, fans in Karacabey swung into action after hearing about the striker’s preference, with Ismail Tepe, his son and a friend loading 16 watermelons into a vehicle and delivering them to the club’s facilities.

“Bursaspor is indispensable to us. When our captain, Ertuğrul Ersoy, told me about Kelechi Iheanacho’s love for watermelons and asked the people of Karacabey for some, I immediately loaded watermelons into the trunk of my car and came here,” Tepe said.

“Hopefully, we will be champions this year and return to the Super Lig,” he added.

Iheanacho, 30, has made an impressive start to life at Bursaspor, scoring 15 goals and providing three assists in 11 matches.

His prolific form has helped the club climb to second place in the Turkish second division standings with 25 points, just one point behind leaders Kayserispor, as they push for promotion to the Turkish Süper Lig.
