Two arrested for stealing, damaging N58m property in Ado-Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned two men, Bamisile Akinwumi, 58, and Abiodun Akinwumi, 48, before a magistrates’ court in Ado-Ekiti over alleged shopbreaking and theft.

The defendants were brought before the court on charges of stealing and malicious damage to property.

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the offences were committed on November 29, 2025, at about 4 a.m. in Ado-Ekiti.

He said the defendants allegedly broke into the shop of Oladipo Vincent Ajibolumu and stole baby wears and vehicle batteries valued at N5 million.

The prosecutor further alleged that the duo, on the same date and at the same location, maliciously damaged three vehicles worth N53 million.

According to him, the offences contravened Sections 421, 324(1) and (2), 302(1)(a), and 354(1)(8) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

The magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 each with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until January 30, 2026.
