Two final year LAUTECH students, driver die in Osun auto crash

Two students of Ladeoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso have lost their lives in a ghastly lone accident in Osun State.
The driver of the bus was also said to have died in the accident.
Five other persons; four males and one female adult were also said to have sustained varying degrees of injuries in the fatal crash.
The accident occured at Ojutu bridge; along the Osogbo-Ilobu road on Wednesday night.
It was gathered that the students, who were final year students of Accounting Department of the institution were coming from an excursion from the Erin-Ijesa waterfall.
In a statement by the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Henry Benamaisia and signed by the Spokesperson of the Command, Agnes Ogungbemi, on Thursday, the fatal accident involved a white commercial Mazda bus.
According to the statement , two males and a female died in the accident.
“The injured victims were taken to the Osun State teaching hospital, Osogbo, and Onward Hospital Okinni.
“The three (3) mobile phones recovered have been handed over to state traffic (NPF).”
The FRSC boss warned the motoring public to drive within the stipulated speed limit to avoid loss of control that could lead to loss of lives and property.
Also speaking on the incident, Head of Operation, O’Ambulance, Mrs Elizabeth Arowosafe said the accident was as a result of overspeeding.
She said, “It was late in the evening yesterday that I was called by my paramedics and driver in Irepodun Local Government that a car somersaulted.
“I was told the driver was speeding and tried to dodge some people around Okinni area when the incident happened.
“We could not recognise the dead victims. I learnt that the occupants of the bus were final year students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho, who came to Erin Ijesa waterfall for an excursion.
“The driver alongside a lady was burnt to ashes. We were able to rescue six people. We rushed them immediately to Uniosun Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.
“The hospital did well. In fact, there was not enough space to accommodate the injured people and we had to leave our stretcher for them to use.
“One of the injured students confirmed to us that they were coming from an excursion. She gave us five of the victim’s names but she didn’t get the strength to name the others.”
It was gathered that one of the deceased, Adedoyin Faith, was the first son of the Majority Leader, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin (Sanjay).
