Two killed as cult clash in Osun
Two suspected cultists were reportedly killed on Sunday after two rival cult groups clashed in Ilesa, Osun State.
The victims identified as Machine and SK were said to have been shot dead in a beer parlor at Onimo junction where they were drinking.
The traditional ruler in the area, the Onimo of Imo, Oba Olaniyi Agunbiade, said he was watching a football match around 8pm when he heard sounds of gunshots
Oba Agunbiade said he immediately alerted the Ijamo Police Divisional Officer who swiftly responded to the distress call, but the deed had already been done before the arrival of the security personnel.
According to the monarch, corpses of the victims were removed by the police for investigation.
Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, said it was a clash between two suspected rival cult groups.
She said, “It was a case of a suspected cult gang gunning down two members of another suspected rival cult group.”
Opalola said an investigation has been opened on it, and the culprits would be brought to book.
