U-17 Women’s W/Cup: Nigeria beat Ecuador 4-0 to qualify for quarter final

Nigeria’s Women U-17 team, the Flamingos, on Saturday night, in Santiago, beat Ecuador 4-0 in their second group game at ongoing FIFA Women U-17 World Cup holding in the Dominican Republic.
Shakirat Moshood opened scoring for the Nigerian ladies, hitting the target from the spot in the 28th minute.
The Flamingos took the slim lead into the break only to come out smoking in the second half.
Harmony Chidi increased the tally to two in the 53rd minute, with Peace Effiong providing the assist.
Effiong will go on to put her name on the scorers’ sheet as she added the third goal in the 66th minute.
Shakirat Moshood scored her second goal of the night, firing home in added time, to make it a comprehensive 4-0 win for the Nigerians.
With a match to go in the group stage, the big win pulls the Flamingos through to the quarter final of the tournament, having won their first game, 4-1 against New Zealand to bring their points to six from two matches.
They will square up against host, Dominican Republic, in the quarter final on Tuesday.
