UBEC affirms commitment to transform state govt schools

Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC),Dr. Hamid Bobboyi, has affirmed the Commission’s dedication to supporting state governments in modernizing their schools to meet the demands of 21st-century education.
Its commitment was emphasized during a visit to Science Model Primary School Chaza Suleja, one of five science model schools chosen by the Niger State government for transformation into smart institutions.
During the visit, Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim, Chairman of the Niger State Universal Basic Education Commission, highlighted the state government’s decision to elevate these schools to smart status. Adding that, the team visited the schools in New Bussa, Suleja, Beri, and Lapai.
This initiative reflects the government’s aspiration to enhance educational standards to global levels, ensuring that young learners receive top-quality education, enabling them to compete effectively on the international stage.
He stated, “Earlier to the visit of the Executive Secretary, a team from the Digital Resource Centre of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) led by Dr. Hafsat Lawal Kontagora arrived at Minna on an inspection visit to the schools to evaluate their readiness to commence smart education.”
Kontagora, sharing their findings, expressed satisfaction that numerous state governments have embraced the Federal Government’s Smart Schools Programme, initiating their own smart schools.
He highlighted that the schools aim to deliver high-quality 21st-century education emphasizing creativity, innovation, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has set up 37 smart schools across Nigeria, one in each state and the FCT.
These institutions boast state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure, with 14 already operational and engaged in teaching and learning activities.
