UCL: Lookman inspires Atalanta’s win over Frankfurt

By Tosin Omojola –

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman was among the scorers as Italian side Atalanta mauled Eintracht Frankfurt 3–0 in Wednesday night’s UEFA Champions League game.

The Nigerian international scored the opener and then provided the assist for the second to put his side on the victory path, with all three goals coming within the space of five second-half minutes — the 60th, 62nd and 65th minutes.

The first half was a fairly even affair, although Atalanta hit the post twice in 30 seconds through Ademola Lookman and Gianluca Scamacca.

But the Italians ran away with it in the second half.

First, Lookman scored with a cushioned volley to turn home Charles De Ketelaere’s cross, before providing the assist for Ederson to add a second.

De Ketelaere slammed in a third after Scamacca had earlier hit the crossbar.

The big win moves Atalanta to 10th on the table, while the German side dropped to 28th.
