The University of Ibadan has honoured a former Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Kehinde Olaosebikan, with the “Iconic Friend of the University of Ibadan Sports Academy” award for his contributions to the development of the academy.

The award was presented to Olaosebikan on Tuesday at the headquarters of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-Kehinde Olaosebikan Grassroots Movement in Olomi, Oluyole Local Government Area of Ibadan.

A delegation from the university, led by the Chairman of the UI Sports Academy, Professor Olufemi Adegbola Adegbesan, presented the award on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. K.O. Adebowale.

Adegbesan said the recognition was in appreciation of Olaosebikan’s selfless service and significant contributions to the establishment of the University of Ibadan Sports Academy, as well as his commitment to sports and youth development.

He said Olaosebikan’s support had contributed to efforts to actualise the academy’s vision, adding that the university appreciated his continued partnership with the initiative.

Other members of the delegation were Prof. Nureni Adedayo Adewole and Dr. Ajijola Oluchi Mullie, secretary of the UI Sports Academy.

Responding, Olaosebikan thanked the vice chancellor and the university delegation for the recognition, saying his support for the academy was motivated by its alignment with the sports and youth development objectives of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Olaosebikan further pledged to continue supporting the university’s vision for the Sports Academy, while members of the PBAT-KO Grassroots Movement and other stakeholders from Oyo State witnessed the presentation.
