US exchange alumna Feranmi Abiola wins NLNG creative arts prize

Feranmi Abiola, an alumna of a United States government exchange programme, has emerged a joint winner of the 2026 Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Nigeria Prize for Creative Arts for her documentary, Mara Mania.

The US Mission in Nigeria disclosed this in a post on its X account on Tuesday, congratulating Abiola on the achievement.

“Congratulations to U.S. exchange alumna Feranmi Abiola, joint winner of the 2026 Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Nigeria Prize for Creative Arts for her documentary, Mara Mania!” the mission said.

It said Abiola honed her filmmaking and storytelling skills during the year-long Community College Initiative programme at Sinclair Community College in Ohio, United States.

The mission added that she was among more than 14,000 Nigerian alumni of US government exchange programmes making an impact across various sectors, including the country’s creative industries.
