Uzodimma declares PGF support for Tinubu amid political tensions

Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), Hope Uzodimma, has reaffirmed the support of APC governors for the second-term bid of President Bola Tinubu amid growing speculations of internal disagreements within the forum ahead of the 2027 elections.
Uzodimma disclosed this in a post shared via his X account on Friday after presiding over a meeting of the PGF alongside Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani.

According to him, the forum reviewed the progress made under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and unanimously reaffirmed support for his second-term bid.
“During our deliberations, we reviewed the progress made so far and further strengthened our strategic engagement ahead of our party primaries and the 2027 Presidential Election,” Uzodimma said.
He added that the governors also reflected on Tinubu’s “commitment to national development, economic reforms, infrastructure renewal, and the welfare of Nigerians,” noting that the forum remained focused on “delivering hope, stability, and sustainable development for the Nigerian people.”
The meeting comes amid recent political conversations surrounding the leadership structure of the PGF and succession politics within APC-controlled states, particularly Ogun and Kwara.
According to reports, Governor Dapo Abiodun has remained one of the influential figures within the forum, although internal party discussions over succession plans and alignments ahead of 2027 have reportedly intensified.
Similarly, in Kwara State, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and chairman of the NGF and other key APC stakeholder, has continued to play a strategic role within the governors’ bloc amid ongoing debates over zoning and political succession in the state.
