Veteran actor Fatomilola recounts Mr Macaroni’s ₦1m surprise after film

Veteran Yoruba actor, Peter Fatomilola, has recounted how skit maker and actor Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, surprised him with ₦1m after they worked on a film together.

Fatomilola said Mr Macaroni gave him the money despite the fact that they had not negotiated a fee for his role before the production.

He disclosed this in an upcoming interview with African A-List, also known as AfricanaList, while reflecting on his experiences in the entertainment industry.

The veteran actor recalled an earlier encounter with Mr Macaroni at a film location in Fiditi, Oyo State, where he completed two scenes. He said he was paid ₦50,000 for the job, while Mr Macaroni gave him ₦200,000 for fuel as he prepared to leave.

Fatomilola said the gesture stood out to him and was followed by another invitation from Mr Macaroni to work on a project in Lekki, Lagos, where he discovered that he would be acting alongside veteran actor Pete Edochie.

“He contacted me and said, ‘I’ll be expecting you in Lekki tomorrow for a job.’ So I had to go. When we got there, I was waiting for them to give me a role, to call me on set, not knowing I was only called to play one role,” he said.

According to Fatomilola, Mr Macaroni subsequently gave ₦100,000 to his son and ₦50,000 to his grandchild, making him suspect that he would also receive payment despite having no prior agreement on a fee.

He disclosed that he only discovered the amount Mr Macaroni had sent after they left the Lekki location, recalling that when he asked how much had been sent, he was told it was ₦1m.
