Veteran actor, Zulu Adigwe passes away

Renowned actor and singer, Uncle Zulu, fondly remembered as Mr. B from the iconic Ken Saro-Wiwa’s Bassey & Company TV series, breathed his last on Tuesday.

Zulu Adigwe, who recently graced the screens in the 2019 blockbuster, Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, left behind a rich legacy, spanning decades in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Born in Enugu, Zulu Adigwe’s journey in the spotlight began early, with his interest in acting ignited at the tender age of seven.

Despite a transient stint in Austria for his education, where he pursued French and German studies before briefly having a shot at Medicine, Adigwe’s heart remained tethered to Nigeria.

He eventually pursued his passion for the arts, graduating with First Class Honours in Theatre Arts from the University of Ibadan.

Adigwe’s portrayal of Mr. B in Bassey & Company marked a significant chapter in Nigerian television history, earning him widespread acclaim.

Stepping into the lead character’s shoes after a departure, Adigwe breathed new life into Mr. B, enchanting audiences with his guitar-strumming persona and catchy melodies.

Beyond television, his talents shone on the big screen, notably in movies like Blood of the Orphan and Living Abroad.

His passing leaves a void in the hearts of fans and colleagues alike, but Uncle Zulu’s indelible contributions to Nigerian entertainment will continue to resonate for generations to come.
