VIDEO: Sunday Igboho submits Yoruba Nation’s petition to UK Prime Minister

Yoruba Nation advocate, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho on Saturday submitted a petition to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer at No. 10, Downing Street, London.

Details of the content of the petition were not revealed but, indications emerged it is connected with the ongoing agitation for self-determination and the creation of a separate country in Western Nigeria being propagated by the Yoruba Nation Movement.

Igboho reportedly submitted the petition on behalf of Prof Adebanji Akintoye, the leader of the Yoruba Nation Movement.

Those who accompanied Igboho to the event include, Diaspora Youth Leader, Prophet Ologunoluwa, Vice President of Ifeladun Apapo, Fatai Ogunribido, General Secretary of Yoruba World Media, Alhaja Adeyeye, and Member of Yoruba Nation Movement, Paul Odebiyi.

Sunday Igboho and other Yoruba Nation activists have been campaigning for self-determination for the people of Western Nigeria since 2021, leading to a violent encounter with operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS), invading his house in Ibadan where some of his followers were killed and others arrested.

He escaped to Benin Republic and was arrested at the country’s airport while trying to travel to Germany with his wife. His travel documents were confiscated and he was held in custody.

Igboho was later released by Beninoise authorities following a legal battle, after nearly two years of house arrest.

He eventually travelled to Germany in early 2023 and returned to Nigeria, following the demise of his mother.
